Lawrence Hughes needs help re: attorneys
by Dogpatch ini need any information you may have on the following lawyers, especially there connection with the watchtower and if they are jehovah witnesses and any cases they have been on.
this information is crucial for my upcomming civil suit against the wts.
if you live in their area, perhaps you could do some snooping and phoning.

Would you spit at his mother?
by Amazing1914 inas scott peterson's mother exited the courthouse, where she heard the jury pronounce her son guilty of murder, the crowd moved in on her, jeered and booed her, and some spit at her.. scott certainly appears guilty and the jury who heard the evidence thought so.
i believe in the death penalty, but not in purely circumstantial cases like scott peterson's.
so, i favor life in prison, to give him opportunity either repent and pay his punishment, or to prove his innocence ... if he can.. however, to stand outside a court house to cheer at the verdict seems rather inane and ludricris.

Springer has nothing to do with it. The urge to spit and condemn is a human instinct recorded from the earliest times
Correct you are, I just like using that term "the Springerization of America".

My niece, age 13, got baptized this weekend
by starfish422 ini know they're desperate for new members for that annual service report; but she is wayyyyy too young to know what she's doing to her life.
:( there should seriously be a minimum age for this.

However, to stand outside a court house to cheer at the verdict seems rather inane and ludricris. But, then to spit on the guy's mother seems cruel and heartless. She has a triple burden to bear. She lost her daughter-in-law, whom she loved. She will lose her son to prison or execution. And she will, in a way, be shamed because of his guilt. I see no point in spitting on her. - Jim W.
It's the (Jerry) Springerization of America (and unfortunately other western countries).

Remember though that other religious baptize/confirm members under 18 too (not that it excuses the WTS pressure tactics)
Yes this is true as I was "confirmed" as a Catholic age 13. There was no pressure to do this as it was somewhat of an insignificant event for me (and probably for others as well). We had absolutley no understanding or depth of understanding of what it all meant. At that age all we knew is that it would make our parents happy and it really was not difficult as it only required a couple of dozen classes. Some were incredibly boring and others were interesting as we learned about Martin Luther King and Mahatma Ghandi.
Like I said I had no depth of understanding of any significance to my Catholic confirmation at 13 years old. When I decided to not go to church anymore and (worse) profess my athiestic beliefs in my late teens, I was never denounced or shunned.
With the added punishment of shunning in the JW cult, 13 year old baptisms should not be compared so easily to what other religions allow. A 13 year old could not possibly make that kind of a decision and truly understand the consequences.

Studying the new "Keep on the Watch!" brochure - Who Is Sovereign? (p15)
by ozziepost infrom the new brochure ?keep on the watch!?
page 15 ?the issue of sovereignty?
?satan the devil claimed that jehovah was unduly restrictive, that he had lied to our first parents about what would happen if they ignored god?s law and did things their own way, and that it really would be better if they governed themselves apart from god.?

Not just that Ozzie but by that statement there is an inference that (as you said in your comment about a court in heaven) God had to prove himself to the angels in some kind of a evidentiary hearing or tribunal of some kind.
As well this comment is ridiculous:
The settling of the issue of divine sovereignty, along with the related issue of human integrity, is vital in order for there to be proper respect for law in the universe. Without that, true peace would never be possible.
This says that man's integrity is a necessary facet and is vital in order for there to be proper respect for law in the universe. it also says that without humans God's universe could never exist with true peace - it would never be possible. That is a real weakening of God in fact it puts him in a position where he is dependant on us. If it does not imply that he is inferior to us, it certainly implies that he is in a partnership of equals.

Geez who is writing the material now the WT lawyers? Divine Sovereingty? God supposedly created the Universe and represents the ultimate in power and love why would there ever be a question of Sovereignty?
You're right Ozzie they love to weaken him and make him imperfect. It's probably deliberate as it justifies some of their other BS.

It's happening, the anger and depression are taking over
by Tim Horton ini haven't posted for a while.
i'm starting to really lose my cool.
i'm angry all the time, it seems at everyone.

Has anyone been through this
I have been through a couple of breakups (Once you get one behind you the rest are much easier). I never went through the raging anger thing but my ex did and it was very bad for the kids. My anger was more subdued than what you are describing.
I have heard of countless stories of people going through this. It seems to be more common with women after a marital breakup. I could tell you that time is the magic ingredient which is necessary and must pass but that won't help you now.
All I can suggest is if your therapist is not helping then perhaps you ought to keep going there whilst simultaniously finding a new one - perhaps a woman who can understand the female perspective (and if you already have a female therapist just try a different one).
I know it's easier said than done but try to refocus the energy you have for the anger into a positive action i.e. take some courses, workout at the gym everyday. Try very hard to use the energy but in a positive way.

So if we have freeness of speech in our relationship with God, why can we be disfellowshipped for "independent thinking" and for "going against the Faithful & Discreet Slave Class" if we publically say we don't agree with something they've said or done. How exactly is it that we have "freeness of speech"??? Seems to me from reading the above scripture, that Jehovah isn't nearly as judgmental as the hairy he-goats in Crooklyn.
Uhm let's see....because they are hypocrits?
